The National Centre of Excellence in Functional Foods

The National Centre of Excellence in Functional Foods (NCEFF) was established in 2003, as a joint venture between four research partners:

NCEFF was a five year initiative of the Australian Government's National Food Industry Strategy, supported by the previous Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry through a $5.5million grant that was matched by the four partners.

This funding enabled the delivery of a strategic science program covering two key themes: Foods for Healthy Ageing and Foods for Appetite Control. It also established a communications network and provided consultancy for industry in support of functional food research and development.

Following the five-year initiative this website is being temporarily maintained to provide access to the Centre's achievements and links back to the four partners.

Future efforts in communications and faciliation of functional foods are year to be announced, however the Smart Foods Centre will continue to support industry through - www.functionalfoods.com.au (site coming soon).
